Wherever you are, we can connect

Supports HCPC Audit Compliance

Regular supervision aligns with HCPC and RCOT standards, which emphasise reflection, development, and accountability – all essential if your practice is ever audited

Improves Quality of Care

Supervision has been linked to higher quality client care, ethical practice, and reflective decision-making

Reduces Stress

Supervision reduces stress, increases job satisfaction, and helps OT’s cope with the demands of their roles

Enhances Growth

Supervision builds confidence and supports reflective, self-aware practice – key to ongoing growth and career development

High-quality supervision matters — and the research proves it!

The quality of professional supervision can vary significantly, as can its purpose and structure. However, what is consistently recognised — and strongly supported by the literature — is that high-quality, regular, and reflective supervision makes a profound difference across many aspects of practice. Over the past two decades, research and writing on supervision have expanded considerably. This growth is not only driven by the professional requirement to engage in supervision but also by the increasing pressures and demands faced by occupational therapists today. There has never been a more critical time to ensure supervision is meaningful, robust, and supportive

Regular supervision – what does the evidence say?

Supervision strengthens resilience and reduces burnout

Supervision consistently helps occupational therapists  manage stress, build emotional resilience, and maintain wellbeing in demanding roles. Supported therapists are more likely to thrive and sustain long, rewarding careers.

(Dawson, Phillips & Leggat, 2013; Snowdon et al., 2020)

Supervision boosts professional confidence and career development

Research shows that supervised therapists report greater confidence, more reflective practice, and faster professional growth. It provides the structure to develop skills, handle complexity, and progress confidently through career stages.

(Gardner, McKinstry & Perrin, 2018)

Supervision improves quality of care and client outcomes

Therapists consistently report that good supervision leads to better decision-making, higher clinical standards, and more ethical, client-centred practice. Reflection, support, and structured feedback strengthen the quality of services delivered.

(Dawson, Phillips & Leggat, 2012; Snowdon et al., 2020)

Supervision builds a trusted partnership for long-term support

Real growth happens over time in a trusted supervisory relationship. Research highlights that strong, skilled supervisory partnerships help therapists feel connected, supported, and professionally secure — even across distance or when working independently.

(Gardner, McKinstry & Perrin, 2022; Ducat et al., 2016)

Supervision helps meet professional obligations for safe, effective practice

Engaging in regular supervision is recognised by HCPC, RCOT, and national quality standards as a core element of safe, accountable, and effective professional practice. It’s a proactive way to meet regulatory expectations – and protects you if audited.

Is supervision right for me?

It’s natural to feel some hesitation when starting something new. Together, we’ll explore your needs, tailor the approach, and create a space that is thoughtful, challenging, and ultimately rewarding

What should I expect in a session?

Generally, 1:1 sessions will run 50mins – 1hr.   We use the same kind of format for each session, so you know what to expect – this also helps you prepare a little before we meet. By using a similar format, we can ensure you are getting what you need from supervision, and that we are covering devlopmental requirements.  Having said this, supervision sessions are about supporting your needs, and on occasion, we may spend a session in a different way, if that what is best for you at the time.  Groups run 90 minutes, with three supervisees in each group.

It sounds a bit boring, if i'm honest 🙁

Supervision should be engaging, productive, and something you actually look forward to. I’ll work hard to make sure we meet your goals, but also that the sessions feel relaxed, positive, and enjoyable. In my experience, when people are having fun, they learn more, stay more engaged, and get much more out of the process. We’ll do important work together – but it shouldn’t feel heavy or hard-going. Growth can (and should) feel rewarding.

Can I just try it out?

In my experience, the real value of supervision emerges over time. As the supervisory relationship develops, trust deepens, and that’s when real growth and insight happens. To give the process the best chance to flourish, I recommend committing to at least four months of supervision. This allows us to build a strong rapport, understand each other properly, and create the foundation for meaningful development.

Will you advise me on clinical decisions?

I don’t provide clinical advice; you remain responsible for your own practice. However, we will absolutely discuss your work, explore options, and reflect on different approaches. As a highly experienced occupational therapist, manager, and leader, I have a deep understanding of clinical concepts, challenges, professional frameworks, and real-world practice. This places me in a strong position to support you in thinking through models, approaches, challenges, and your professional development in a way that is both reflective and grounded in patient experince.

I work in a challenging environment, and professional relationships can be really diffcult - can you help ?

I understand the role of the occupational therapist and the unique professional challenges it brings. I recognise the pressures of maintaining professional identity, navigating difficult workplace relationships, and managing complex team dynamics. In supervision, I offer a supportive space to help you think through these challenges, strengthen your professional identity, and maintain confidence, professionalism, and resilience in your practice – while keeping a clear focus on delivering positive outcomes for your patients and supporting your wellbeing at work.

About Me

I live in the West Country with my wife, two grown-up children, and our greyhound, Finley. I spend my free time between the gym, getting back into running (!), and exploring new places on my motorbike as an Advanced Motorcycle Rider. I’m always drawn to activities that challenge me both physically and mentally. I’m genuinely fascinated by people – how we grow, adapt, and find meaning in our work and lives – and that curiosity shapes a lot of what I do, both professionally and personally.

How It Works

Schedule a free call

I offer a free, no-obligation video call – just a relaxed chance for us to meet, chat, and see if working together feels right for you. There’s no pressure, no cost, and no commitment – just space to ask questions and get a feel for how supervision could support you. If it feels like a good fit, we can talk about the next steps at your own pace.

i

Make a plan...

If you’re ready to start supervision, we’ll set a regular meeting time and begin by exploring your work, priorities, and aspirations. In the first few sessions, we’ll actively shape a supervision plan that fits your needs and goals. From the start, we’ll focus on building momentum, strengthening your practice, and creating a clear path.

Reach Your Goals

Our work together will be shaped around your goals and priorities. As your needs evolve, we’ll keep reviewing and adjusting our focus to make sure supervision stays relevant, supportive, and effective for you. This is a dynamic, collaborative process – designed to meet you where you are and help you move towards where you want to be.
